One of the neat things you see here along Okinawa's hills and oceansides are different types of tombs. Okinawa's people built these huge tombs to show respect to their ancestors. While driving around you will see them here and there. I'm glad I got close enough to photograph one. This one we found down in the middle of some sugar cane fields. There is an "Obon" festival in July that, I guess, is a little like our Memorial day. On this day they assemble at their family tombs to welcome the spirits of their ancestors by offering incense, food and drinks. As you will notice, they probably visit it more then at just the Obon festival, there have been flowers and I guess incense left recently at this one.
